A1 - The Unique Salzburg- on Foot

Schloss Mirabell

Friedhof St. Peter

Old Town guidance duration: approx. 2 – 2 ½ hours.

Over 1100 years Salzburg was a stand-alone principality within the roman – german empire and was governed by Catholic bishops and archbishops. These embossed through impressive sacral and mundane buildings of the most different eras and style directions a townscape, that in the unison with the fascinating landscape became one of the most beautiful Europe cities.

Experience this unique Salzburg with us as we walk through the baroque Mirabellgarten, via the Makartplatz passing by Mozarts residential building, the country theater, the birthplace of Christian Doppler and the parent house of Herbert von Karajan to the Salzach river. Crossing the Makartsteg brings us to the old part of the town, where we walk through the medieval Getreidegasse, passing by Mozarts birthplace, crossing the market and after visiting the Franziskaner church we continue to the festival opera houses, through the St. Peter cloister and the cemetery. The cathedral was constructed by the prince archbishop Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau according to an Italian model. Due to this Italian flair, Salzburg is also known as „Rome of the north".

After visiting the cathedral, we reach the statue of Mozart at the Mozartplatz after crossing over the Residenzplatz with its marvelous fountain. We continue through the Judengasse to the Alten Markt, where the famous café Tomaselli since 1703 is located. Finally we reach the Getreidegasse where our walk ends.

With small groups (to 8 persons), the tour can be carried out in the minibus too.

Optional: Visit of the fortress, Mozarts birthplace, the DomQuartier, fountains Hellbrunn, Mozart Dinner concert.
