B12 - Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse
A picturesque street moves us through the alps past Lofer, Saalfelden, Zell am See to the most beautiful panorama street of Austria, the Glocknerstrasse. These 48 kms long street leads us into 36 turns up to 2.504 m of height. We arrange hold on that Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, where we can see marmots and sometimes also capricorns. During beautiful weather we can see the peak of Grossglockner, that is the highest mountain of Austria at 3.798 m and we can go down to the Pasterze at the largest glacier of Austria (optional) and wander on the ice. On the other hand we go down into the former mine village Heiligenblut with his splendidly equipped church . Here wecan make a break in the restaurant „La Casa", whence we have a marvellous view on the Glockner during beautiful weather, with deliciousness of the domestic kitchen are able be spoiled. At the return we hold at the well known artistically village Zell am See, may walk on the bank promenade of the Zellersee, before we drive return to Salzburg.
